Introduce yourself? Preferred pronouns? Where do you currently reside? 1 fun fact about yourself?
My name is Levi (some people call me leaves). He/Him. Currently stuck between Ottawa and Montreal at the Moment. Fun fact: I grew up on a bee farm
How is everything going with you right now?
Just okay, I just finished an absolutely brutal school semester, but this one coming up is going to be more relaxed, and I am moving back to Montréal so things are looking up a little bit.
Any fun predictions for 2021?
All the DJs are going to get into the new Gossip Girl Reboot when it drops.
How did you get your DJ name?
I had an initial moniker for a bit in the early ‘10s but by the time I had actually figured out how to make music just didn’t quite fit. I started making a list of cool words, and just played around with combinations until I got Unknown Mobile. The mobile half came from Alexander Calders sculptures that I was obsessed with at the time.
Who currently inspires your music-wise?
DJ wise: CCL Production wise: Khotin and D. Tiffany
What is the perfect temperature?
-1, sunny day, and a pair of skis.
4 djs you would want to see on a lineup for the first party post covid asap?
Tough Q so I made two lineups with 2 diff vibes
Raving:
D. Tiffany, Daniel Rincon, Florist, Regular Fantasy
Dancing:
Dane, Eug, DJ D. Dee, Khotin
What other activities have you dipped into with a break from djing?
Mostly just been doing architecture school via zoom, so went full in on that. But also got seriously into mushroom picking this past fall, just roaming around the woods identifying stuff I don’t know. Nice break from all my screens.
Let’s play a pipipi game… I give you a situation & you give me a track
Kentucky derby on acid
Absolute mental tune.
1 song on repeat in ode to someone you used to love
Trapped in a foreign airport for 40+ hours
If you had to describe yourself as a vegetable what would it be and why?
Watermelon Radish, they look like a pretty boring root veggie on the outside, but extremely vibrant on the inside.
Favorite weird drug experience?
Standing on a frozen lake almost clear as glass at night, felt like I was floating above the water with ice breaking around me. Truly beautiful and terrifying.
Describe your favorite thing to drink and how it makes you feel?
Wine, happy and social.
Why do you think it’s important to share music?
Music is meant to be heard, there is so much of it and so little time. I love sharing new things with friends and I love receiving shared music. I wouldn’t be where I am at within the music world if it weren’t for sharing music with friends.
What do your parents think about the music you make?
They are supportive, but only really listen to my ambient stuff, and even then not sure what they think really.
What would you like to see in the future for the dance community?
More cooperative based organizations. I think more intention needs to be focused on how a new club series or after hours or studio spaces are structured. Not just focusing on creating a vibe, but figuring out how to include and address all stakeholders within whatever you are doing.
