Hi! I’m Stephen. Coming up on 6 years in Brooklyn. I’m from Memphis and did a lot of growing up in Denver. I played the flute for ~8 years until I graduated high school.
Earliest musical memory?
My dad taking me to out to a coffee shop in Memphis on Saturday nights when I was like 6y/o, there was always a DJ playing weird acid jazz & lounge CDs and I didn’t really understand it but I loved it
If you could place a dj booth anywhere in the world… where would it be & what would you play?
On a warm beach so I can play all my weird balearic records that are just collecting dust bc no one wants to hear that shit in Bushwick.
Favorite decade for music and why?
I love right now because it’s just getting more and more accessible for everyone!
Favorite collective/scene at the moment?
Always had a lot of love for the Spectrum people. Sublimate throws great parties – SmangTWOsia! Also shout-outs to the Unter and Discwoman fams and obvs Bossa Nova!

I try to hydrate throughout the day beforehand so I can just drink beer while I play

What would you like to see in the future for the dance community?
Stricter real estate regulations so there can be more accessible places to [live and] dance, & more money for artists and workers rather than the investors!

Favorite late night snack?
A focaccia bread sandwich that you’ve been waiting to eat *all day * and when you finally get to it, the bread has soaked up all the oils and become the absolute perfect texture.
Where do you see your rave self 30 years from now?
Hopefully will have started a commune with some other Djs at that point, where we’ll have grapevines and grow weed and throw wild hootinannies for our friends once in a while.
