Introduce yourself :} Where you live currently? Hometown? One fun fact about yourself?
Ayyy my name is Peter Wiley — I make tracks, spin records, and design graphics. I’m from a rural town in Michigan, moved to Texas for a bit, and now I’m soaking up the good vibes here in Ridgewood, NY. Fun fact: I used to play metal guitar >:~)
Current gear set-up?
Handful of Roland, Yamaha, and Korg synths, some mess of Eurorack insanity, cheap effects, and a broken Zoom H4n. I use a Vestax and some Technics for DJing.
Ultimate line-up you would like to be on in the past/present?
I think it would be bonkers to share a bill with Powder, but also I’m not sure if I could hold it down in the presence of her greatness! Would love to b2b with Bill Converse, all-night kind of thing.
Let’s play a pipipi game– I give you a word and you give me a track!
Model 500 – “Starlight (Moritz Remix)”. Can’t be sure if space sounds this cavernous and warm but I hope it does.
I remember the moment my sister showed me “Something Blue” by Hiroshi Yoshimura and feeling transformed into a blade of grass whispering in the wind.
“Guitaris Breeze” by John Beltran. Turn down the lights, put on headphones, lie down, and let John take your spirit on a journey through the clouds. When I was a little kid I used to wish I could grow wings and fly. This track brings you there.
Porter Ricks — “Redundance 3”. This masterpiece conjures spirits.
Paint a picture of your third best dance move?
Sometimes I do this thing on the dancefloor where my I plant my feet firmly and kind of sway side to side and let my arms do all the talking.
What do you wish to see in the future for the dance community?
I would love to see more genre-blending, less snobbery, more experimentation, less expectation, more DIY spaces, less funktion ones, more personality, less purity. I think it’s already going that way 🙂
Favorite late night snack?
Recently I’ve been going deep with whipped coconut milk plus vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Also I am a sunflower butter junkie 😛
