Advice to beginning dj’s?
Try not to doubt yourself. Ignore people who put a lot of weight on “technical expertise”. Remember that there isn’t one way to DJ, how you want to approach it is up to you!

Describe the best dj/live set you have seen this year?
Erika at Tangent Gallery in Detroit
It felt like walking through a swamp – slow, heavy, syncopated rhythm. It was a very humid-feeling set.
Where do you see your rave self in 30 years from now?
I see myself playing ambient music in my living room and floating around with the lights off.
Most underrated artist at the moment?
So many but some that come to mind are Bergsonist and Eszaid.
Favorite DJ trick?
Not really a trick but I love to switch between 4×4 and syncopated kick patterns like between techno and electro or jungle. It gives room to breath and switches up the energy in the room.
What would you like to see in the future for the dance community?
An end to the idea of the White Technically Adept Guardian of Knowledge Western-European Electronic Musician Man.
Less sacredness of genres, methods of making music and of DJing.
More ways to play and feel safe for POC, non-binary and women-identifying DJs, artists, ravers, music enthusiasts.
Less gatekeeping, more experimentation.
More financially accessible raves and parties in New York.
