Introduce yourself? Pronouns? Where do you currently reside? 1 fun fact about yourself?
Hello, I’m Jeremy (he/him). I currently reside in Brooklyn, NY and I gave up a professional jump roping career in order to speak with you today.
How did you get your DJ name?
Mostly from having a bad back and spending a lot of time in one of those things. I like music that feels like getting strapped in by your ankles and flipped upside down too.
Fav bpm and why?
135. So much of what I listen to overlaps right around there. It also feels endlessly adaptable, it can sound fast or slow, it’s a fun tempo to bounce around to.
Favorite thing to cook currently? (Feel free to include recipe)
I think it’s called Ripassati. Boil a couple of chopped heads of broccoli rabe in a pot of salted water for 7ish minutes, then fish it out and tip it into a pan with loads of olive oil and chili flakes and garlic and saute it til it falls apart. Boil the pasta in the green water while you continue cooking the greens. When the pasta is done, throw it in the pan with some green water and toss it with some lemon and parmesan. It’s so easy and it sticks to your bones like no other.
Tell us a little about 123…
Just a group of buds with similar interests who got together when we had the chance to preserve a space that holds a special spot in our hearts. A spot to work, but also gather with friends to enjoy each other’s music and company. Also, a way to try and stay sane during the particularly bleak winter of 2020.
Who do you think is the most underrated artist of our time?
There is so much unbelievable talent out there but Al Wooton blows my mind with everything he releases
What is the theme song of your life?
If you had to go back in time music wise what era would it be and why?
1999. Pure silliness and excess on one end of the spectrum, and so much innovation and experimentation on the other.
Let’s play a pipipi game… I give you a situation & you give me a track…
Inversion table hour 27
In an alley at sunset
Florida everglades 2CB
If you had to describe yourself as material, what would it be and why?
Gore-Tex. Although not always great in dressed up social situations, it is protective and practical and it shines the most while outdoors
What is your favorite party/collective where you reside and why?
I love the Club Night Club parties so much. As far as collectives, I really admire DiscWoman and the platform and space they have created for marginalized people in the dance community and industry.
What do you think future generations will think about the 2022 sound?
I think it will be looked back on as a re-birthed and hopeful sound born from getting back in touch with so many things we love and have not had access to for the last couple years
What was your best moment on the dance floor?
So much to choose from, but DJ Central playing Awesome 3 Kicks Like A Mule or crying at Eris Drew, looking over and all my friends are crying too
What is your most recent favorite DJ mix and why?
My dear friend and brother Bobby just put out this beautiful, dubbed out cruise last week and it’s been on repeat
Any advice to upcoming DJs?
Don’t forget how fun it is, make mistakes, clang it til it bangs
In less than 5 min draw me a picture of your DJ energy
What would you like to see in the future for the dance community?
Even more inclusivity, and accessibility to this world we occupy and love. There’s always room if you want to dance.
