Introduce yourself? Pronouns? Where do you currently reside?

Hey! I’m Malte (He/Him) and I currently live in London. Originally from Duisburg in the Ruhr Valley (Germany) but moved to Brighton in the UK in 2015 for some reason?!

What is the first scent you smelled today?

I woke up at 6:30 for work and was so tired I don’t think I had any braincells working to smell anything before my morning coffee so I’d say coffee.

3 adjectives that start with the same letter to describe you while experiencing sleep deprivation?

Funny, Frustrated, Fine

Listen to the moment at 4:44 min mark in your PI mix… describe how it makes you feel?

Calm and light

Best trip of your life so far (Psychedelic or Travel)

Me and my friends went on a road trip through Spain in 2014. Took the car from Germany through France and pretty much all the way to the Spanish west-coast with many stops in between, often just sleeping outside in the dunes. At some point along the trip we visited a friend who worked in a social ecological project in the Sierra Nevada desert and there I actually met the people I moved in with when I moved to the UK a year later. Sleeping outside and watching the stars is one of my favorite life memories though…don’t do it enough these days!!

What is the last recipe you made?

Oh god this is embarrassing since my cooking’s gone downhill since living in London but here you go..Pasta with Tomato sauce, Broccoli and Tuna.

Let’s play a pi pi pi game… I give you a situation & you give me a track (youtube links plz)

10 cups of coffee, one melatonin

Laser light show with your family in 2029

Liquid-y mudhole with all of your bestfriends

What TV show would you like to score?

Scavengers Reign

Best thing to eat post gig?

Not the best but because I have done it and will do it again..a classic UK off license sandwich. Sometimes I actually pack one so I can eat it right after playing but then a more ‘classy’ supermarket one..

Best DJ experience so far?

When I first started playing out around 2011 I was resident of the Drum & Bass floor of a bigger party with many different floors. Those were just the best nights, 10pm-8am and the energy was often soo good. Miss those times..100 records in the bag, 2x1210s and slam out drum & bass…much less complicated than my rekordbox library right now..

Track to describe your humor?

Hottest take about summer?

People spend too much time on the beach and not enough in the park (This is a Brighton-centric comment)

Tell me about this mix?

I recorded it during a quite intense time at the end of summer 2024. It was the last week at my job of 7 years before quitting and taking some time to focus on music for the first time ever which was a real big thing for me. It was already quite a difficult year for me because of other reasons, too but I pretty much uprooted myself in the process of moving to London and having a change I really needed in my life. I think there was just a lot going on inside of me and I tried to go with the flow and articulate this in the mix. Basically a diary entry of a very turbulent year.

I’m honest with you, I’m quite scared of releasing this mix because it isn’t the most straightforward club mix but it’s been a real cathartic moment for me and it feels important to share it. I hope people can feel what I felt when recording it or at least can connect with the journey.

What would you like to see in the future musically within yourself and others?

I hope people keep on experimenting with different ways of making deep electronic music and don’t always go the easy route. Trying out new things even if they first sound a bit whacky is the only way to keep things fresh!! I’d like to explore how to give deep and trippy music also a personal and more emotional input somehow, I guess to have more “human” elements in it without it being cheesy.

Also, I personally want to make more shoegaze/dream pop sort of music with guitar and my voice. More for myself then anything else but it’s been calling me.
