Introduce yourself? Preferred pronouns? Where do you currently reside? 1 fun fact about yourself?

Andrew Devlin. He/him. Currently floating in/around NYC. I’m color blind.

How is everything going with you right now?

Staying positive every day.

Have you taken any fun trips this summer?

I’ve been lucky enough to spend the last 3 months at my stepmom’s on Long Island, about 10 minutes from the beach. It’s kind of felt like one long trip to be honest, and a very mellow one.

What is your # 1 Rona rule?

Eat your vegetables.

What do you miss about life pre covid?

I miss my bowling team a lot. Big shout out to the whole Still Rolling crew.

Who currently inspires you music-wise?

Beck, for the last year or so. Yesterday I listened to “Red Clay” by Freddie Hubbard a few times, I read about it in that Mike Huckaby interview that was going around. Been learning “Old Man” by Neil Young on guitar, so that’s been stuck in my head. Mix-wise, the last two things I loved were DJ Voices’ Daisychain Mix and Martyn Bootyspoon’s Crack Mix. I think you can hear a little of those in this one.

What would be your last meal… in disturbing detail plz : )

Ooh, this is a tough one! I’ve been shifting my eating habits a lot the past few months and dabbling in vegetarianism…so I think I’ll go that route: Spinach ravioli by Papa Pascuale topped with some homemade marinara sauce by my mom. Speedy Romeo-style caesar salad with huge romaine leaves & fresh parmesan, couple anchovies. Baked stuffed clams. Fresh garlic bread with a little bit of parsley mixed in there. Frantoia olive oil on the table. Jeni’s coffee ice cream.

Name 3 DJ’s you wanna see post covid asap?

Hmm… I’ve probably listened to Physical Therapy mixes more than anyone else this time, so would be nice to go have that experience IRL. Same with Ash Lauryn, I missed her at Nowadays last year. And I was supposed to see DJ Harvey right before the shutdown, so I’ll throw him on there. Really I just can’t wait to be in the club, though, don’t care who’s playing.

Let’s play a pipipi game… I give you a situation & you give me a track

Favorite weird drug experience?

I was tripping with some friends in college, just walking around town and this crazy storm rolled in. Lightning struck a 30’ tree right behind us and the tree dropped immediately, made the loudest sound I’ve heard in my life. Missed us by about 10 feet. I don’t know if that was my “favorite” but probably the most memorable.

What scent would you choose to be on full blast for the rest of your life?

Fresh basil.

Describe a childhood music experience that dictates your music taste today

My dad took me to my first concert, which was Tina Turner at Jones Beach. He loved a diva. I also love divas.

Advice to beginning djs & producers?

This is always a hot topic–but as someone who learned using a controller and a laptop, I’d highly recommend putting time in to play records or at least focus on playing by ear. Once you can do that, everything else feels easy, and you can play b2b with anyone–kinda the most fun part of DJ’ing. I have to tell myself this all the time, but don’t compare yourself to others and enjoy the process.

What would you like to see in the future for the dance community?

More residencies for local DJs and more focus on dancing. Like actual dancing.
